Silverado has two nice older tree lined courses (was a senior tour stop (the transamerica) before moving to Sonoma) but the accomodations are rather outdated by todays standards...if you are in the Napa area there are two courses I highly recommend, I play them often and Im sure you will love them, one is Eagle Vines...half of it is 9 holes from the old Chardonnay course, the other nine was designed from scratch by Johnny Miller about two years ago...beautiful golf in the middle of an active vineyard...you can play this course on discounts from golfnow.com for about 50 during the week or 70 or so on the weekends, you will like this course, the other course is Stonetree in Novato, minutes away from the Napa /Sonoma area heading west on Route 37...beautiful golf in the Novato mountains that is tough and plays a lot like Wente Vinyards in Livermore (a Norman design that the Nationwide plays a tour stop during the spring...also very highly recommended but about a 40 min drive from the Napa area) also minutes away from the Napa area is a course I call home...a Palmer design named Hiddenbrooke in Vallejo...it was briefly (a few years) home to the LPGA's Samsung world championships before it moved first to houston then to the palm desert area...a beautiful course that I play about once a month it has challenging looks from the back two sets of tees, nice greens and can be played on a golfnow.com discount or rack rate of only 65 a round during the week...very reasonable for a course of this type, especially in this area...I play a couple of times a week in this area and these are probably four of the courses that anyone that plays in this area regularly will recommend...
