Your first step to learning how to play golf, would be to learn about the rules of golf. To start off with... The holes on the golf course have to be played in order - 1 thru 9, or 1 thru 18... sometimes in a shotgun tournament style play, you'll still play all the holes, but you may start out on lets say hole 5 and work your way around back to hole 4. Mostly golf is played by "stroke play" where the competitor with the lowest total score for the round or rounds is the winner. Another rule is you're not allowed to carry more than fourteen clubs. Theses are just a few rules to get to start off with, the very basic in game play. But learning how to play golf, and any other game it will take practice and patience.

It's easy. The goal for every hole is to get the ball into the hole using the fewest strokes. Every time you swing a club or putt a ball, that's a stroke. If you lose a ball (like in a water trap or it just disappears), you have to take a penalty stroke. You usually tee off using a 1 wood (a.k.a., a "driver") then you use the other clubs in your bag to get the ball on the green, at which point you attempt to putt the ball into the hole with a putter. This is an oversimplification, but it gives you the basics -- choosing the right club to use depending on where you are and using them well are the things you can't teach over the Internet. You'd need golf lessons, or you'd have to practice at a driving range to learn that.

Well the way i approach playing golf is to figure out what type of grip u need either baseball grip or an over lapping grip then hold the golf club and try not to hit the ball to hard and always keep your eyes on the ball to. start with u can start with a half a back swing until u learn to connect with the ball and when u start hitting the ball then gradually increase your back swing well i naturally play golf no lesson since 2002 and i play of a handicap of 6
